New Captains & Pre-Season
I’d like to announce that Tom Roberts and Scott Clee have kindly accepted the club’s offer to captain the 1XV and 2XV over the coming season, now that Rob and Modge have stood down.
We’ve decided to withdraw the 3XV from the Surrey Reserve League for the forthcoming season because over the past season we have not managed to play enough league games either due to the opposition cancelling or not having enough players.
So as a club we have taken the decision to turn the 3XV into a social side which will only play friendlies on none league weekends.
We have not yet appointed a captain for the 3XV so if you’re interested in running this team please get in touch with Johno.
Pre-season which is for EVERYONE IN THE CLUB will commence Tuesday (4th July) Clapham South (beside tennis courts). These sessions will start sharp at 7.30pm. We ask that people arrive from 7/7.15pm to play touch, chat, mill about, etc so the session starts 7.30pm sharp. These sessions will be done no later than 8.30pm. Like last year they will also be fitness focused.
From August 1st we will be stepping up a gear and having two sessions a week. Tuesdays will remain at 7.30pm Clapham South and we will then add a rugby specific session every Saturday at Thames Ditton starting 10am sharp. We ask people to arrive 9.30/9.45 to play touch, chat, mill about etc so the session starts 10am sharp. These sessions will be done no later than 11.30am. The TD sessions will be focused on what we want to achieve CLUB WIDE in 2017/2018 season.
There will be some further information over the next couple of weeks so keep an eye out. Shane advises you get out for a run or head to the gym so we hit the ground running come June 28th/July 4th.
We’re all looking forward to getting stuck into 2017/2018 season and please remember that OPFC is an amazing club and survives with you all getting involved but we also welcome new recruits. I hope you all have been recruiting over the off season.
If you have any queries about pre-season or injuries please get in touch with me email@example.com
Take care and see you all soon
